Gerald Peters ContemporarySanta Fe

Established in the American West, Gerald Peters has always been committed to exhibiting and celebrating art of the region. Accordingly, the gallery has shown well-known historical figures such as Georgia O’Keeffe and the Taos Society of Artists; as well as lesser-known southwestern artists whose works are now being recognized by larger national institutions, such as Rick Dillingham and Christine Nofchissey McHorse. The contemporary division (established in 2014) also embraces this curatorial concept, featuring artists whose works address issues and subjects in the West and related environment, history, and culture. Focused primarily on emerging and mid-career artists, employing diverse approaches, the Contemporary gallery focuses on rising textile artists like Elizabeth Hohimer, whose land-based practice is an immersive study of the desert atmospheres of the southwest and Native artists like Patrick Dean Hubbell, whose works interrogate biases and stereotypes of Indigenous people.
