Carl Freedman Gallery, once based in London's East End, opened it's Margate Gallery in May 2019 with a major solo show of work by British painter Billy Childish. After purchasing part of the old Thanet Press, Carl Freedman's new Margate HQ spans 10,000 square foot. The site includes three exhibition spaces, an artist apartment and an upper floor dedicated to the sibling print publishing business; Counter Editions. This move was a fantastic opportunity to present larger-scale solo presentations as well as more expansive curated shows. Margate has undergone an amazing transformation, led by a growing art community, and the Gallery is proud to be a part of the town's creative-led regeneration
